About The Practitioner

Jackie Entin, LMT, C.Ht. is a licensed massage therapist and certified hypnotherapist

Before massage was available in every shopping center, I was a practice body for my co-worker, who was in massage school.  That's all it took: one massage and I knew I had to learn it.

I had the privilege of studying at IPSB in Santa Monica in 1994.   After 7 years of practice, my then-husband became sick with cancer.  At some point, I realized that I couldn't take care of him and everyone else, so I stopped working to care for Scott and our sons until he passed in 2008.

During his experimental treatments, Scott had said "Even if it doesn't help me, if something can be learned that will help someone else, it's worth it."  This took me in my next direction.

As I was searching for ways to cope with grief, I read about hypnotherapy.  I was familiar with hypnosis for stage and entertainment, having grown up in Las Vegas, but not with hypnosis as a therapy.  Turns out, hypnosis is the most effective, drug-free pain relief there is.  It was something that Scott had been using for himself organically.  And it was something I could learn, and use to help others.  So I did.

I became a certified hypnotherapist December,2009 and spent the next 10 years helping people with pain, preparation for surgery, anxiety, habits they wanted to quit, habits they wanted to start.  I've never been able to help someone find lost keys, cellphones or jewelry, but I guess we all have our strengths and that one is someone else's.

In 2015, I remarried, and in 2018 my husband, Dan, and I moved to Estill Springs.  I worked at Tullahoma Airport for a year while deciding what I wanted to do with my life.  After getting a couple's massage, Dan suggested I get my Tennessee massage license.  So I did.

I was happy to find Cumberland Institute of Holistic Therapies in Brentwood, where they converted my California education into Tennessee requirements, refreshed my knowledge, and helped me gain my license.  I started practice 6 weeks before the covid-19 lockdowns.  I was open again the first day Gov. Lee said I could be.

Since then, I haven't looked back.  Dan and I have our own building, PennyJack's, named for his parents Jack and Penny Entin, who helped us buy it.  Dan has done/is doing all of the construction, with some help from my younger son, The Bug.  I have an amazing colleague, Becky Fleming, LMT who makes going to work fun and enjoyable, and who shares my bizarre sense of humor.  My clients...I can't express how fortunate I am to have earned the trust and loyalty of so many wonderful people.  And now I'm venturing back into the world of hypnotherapy for true body-mind wellness.

If you've read this far, thank you for your kind attention.
I look forward to hearing your story some day.

And if you have questions about whether massage or hypnosis could be right for you, call or text me at 931.800.9301.  Thanks :)
